oops it's mid January already. the beginning of the year is being painfully slow, first stranded by the snow (no school for a week), then our laptop broke down.

it is always a pleasure to start a new year with Camilla's new calendar. the cover is so nice, i'll turn the page over tomorrow.
the bird i made for my sister is still on my desk as we never made it to France for Christmas (we did try but a 6 hours ordeal at the shuttle mixed with a sick child in the car forced us to drive back home, our worst journey ever)
so i had time to tidy up my desk and put a new tablecloth on.
the inspiration board (behind the bird) has been cleared and is awaiting new and fresh images.

2009 was a challenging year, it has been a hard one at times but i made it through. this is a happy place so we'll focus on the positive.
the best has been about making new friendships, reinforcing old ones, collaborating with two beautiful people, and most of all getting your support and encouraging words throughout the year. Thank you for visiting the shop and the blog, I haven't always had the time to respond properly to each of your comment but be sure they are all very cherished.

A bird-in-progress i started to make in the summer as a late birthday present for my sister which i then hoped to offer as a Christmas present.. very much inspired by (and very far from being as lovely as) Abigail Brown's exquisite birds.
Lucius is enjoying a lovely rocking chair Alessandra sent me, she also made the little lavender cushion Lucius is leaning on. Alessandra, you're a star, thank you very much!
I am hoping to cross the channel tomorrow, weather permitted, i wish you all a lovely and relaxing Christmas! x

i am joining the snow wagon
the snow wasn't as heavy as last February but it was still fun
i haven't been making any dolls this week, in fact the fabric has been put away last weekend and the sewing machine unplugged. Apart from catching up with the obvious Christmas duties, tidying up a much neglected house has been on the agenda.
and some hanging. a lovely blue cloth from Elisabeth that is perfect in the kitchen, and a poster i had my eyes on for a while by Cornelia O'Donovan in the boys' bedroom. have a look at her shop full of very charming things here
